Our next stop on our European trip was a long layover in Copenhagen. We booked a room at the Marriott Moxy with points and planned nothing except food. I knew I wanted to go to Hart Bageri and try the cardamom croissants and Will and I watched the Copenhagen episode of Somebody Feed Phil before we went. I know many people plan to see the little mermaid statue and a few other well-known photo stops in Copenhagen, but our time was short so we picked food first and then walked around from there. We didn’t know much about Copenhagen, or Denmark in general, aside from Hans Christian Anderson, the idea of Hygge, and what we had seen about food.
The weather was amazing when we arrived, sunshine and blue skies. We checked in, showered, and went looking for food. After being up for breakfast at 4:30 to get to the airport in Iceland and not having lunch yet, we were looking forward to eating.
But our first mission was to go to Hart Bageri. Our time was so short in Copenhagen and we know we saw so little, but we immediately liked the city. Wide streets with bike lanes, easy-to-use public transportation, and good food.
We made a video about our time in Copenhagen on Youtube:
